On December 4, 2024, The Clearing House (TCH) approved increasing the RTP network limit from $1 million to $10 million per transaction. According to TCH’s announcement, this increased limit supports network growth in areas such as real estate, supply chain payments, and business-to-business transactions that require larger transaction amounts. The transaction limit increase will be effective on February 9, 2025.

For member credit unions who use CU Corporate RTP:

No action is needed on your part unless you would like to initiate transactions of more than $1 million for your credit union (not your credit union members). Your credit union’s CU Corporate RTP admin in MyCorp1 Manager can change your credit union’s transaction limits, including daily limits. For questions or assistance on how to change your transaction limits, please contact Member Experience at 866/MyCorp1.

Please note that if you increase your transaction limits to $10 million prior to February 9, you will be unable to transact that amount until then.

For member credit unions who have connected to the RTP network using our TPSP service:

Because your credit union is a participant on the RTP network, standard operating rules apply, and you will be required to receive transactions up to the increased amount. Your current connection will enable you to receive this increased amount; however, we encourage you to reach out to your core processor to check their configurations for your credit union to ensure nothing needs to change.

Why is this transaction limit increase beneficial?

In addition to expanded use cases, such as A2A, B2B, B2C, title insurance/mortgage, securities, investments, and brokerage, this transaction limit increase will also allow advanced RTP payment capabilities for corporate customers and high-net-worth individuals. The increase also makes it possible for payroll to be funded closer to payday or even on the same day.
